What Time Does Skyrim Take Place

Considering the armor types and ships of the period, a rough comparison would place Skyrim in our timeline somewhere between 150 BC - 900 AD. A time of the Viking period also as the golden age of the Roman empire is falling. However, there is then a huge jump of over two hundred years to 4E 201, when Skyrim takes place. If we see Bethesda make a small jump, then The Elder Scrolls 6 certainly could take place during the next big war between the Empire and the Dominion.

That's an interesting hypothetical for some games. They followed several different regions, but the inclusion of dragons lines with faerie tales of princesses and gallant knights. The legendary tales seem to align with tales of Beowulf also with aspects. Some consider these stories to be set in 'ancient' times, similar to folk lore tales. Old, long ago, etcetera. Though it could be massively older, or into a future, generally those tales are set beyond recorded history would include. Were there any possibility of it hypothetically being, I estimated long enough that remnants of that society or ours is nearly completely obliterated. Hundreds of millennia past or future, but never can stick a time frame. Wide? Like a quarter million year span, but taking some aspects more directly, around 500 AD maybe. Never can tell, but the one story tells of an Atlantis type island of mages that vanished, so 3500 years ago? Less? More? It's blending great spans. The moon problem and stars arrangements in relation are a stretch for beyond millions of years ago, as we may have had a second moon, or may collect another, but our stars are different, and that would likely take very, very long. Eons, more. Some native American stories place our current world into a frame of this being a 5th or 6th cycle. By that, maybe 30 billion years. Who knows. It seems closer set to Middle Earth, though, than Earth. And Willow.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series, takes place in the province of Skyrim 200 years after the Oblivion Crisis. Dragon Shouts play an integral role in the story as you discover your fate as the Last Dragonborn. Skyrim is available on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation VR.

Skyrim Special Edition is a remastered version of the game for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It uses an upgraded engine with many visual improvements but also has several important technical differences from the classic version of the game.

The ancient home of the Nords, Skyrim, teeters at the brink of destruction. With the death of High King Torygg, a civil war breaks out, with brothers slaying brothers across the province's frozen tundras and rocky crags. Many, especially Nords, wish to secede from the Empire, which has been in decline since the Oblivion Crisis. Many loyalists, on the other hand, prefer the unity and security provided by the Empire.

The Elder Scrolls foretell the return of Tamriel's primeval darkness, the Dragons, and the coming of a mortal born with the soul of a dragon, the Dovahkiin or 'Dragonborn'—one who will have the power to permanently defeat his greatest foe and end the dark reign of the consumer of worlds: Alduin.

Your journey will be beset with peril. Just as remnants of the kingdom's shadow guardians, the Blades, will offer their aid, crafty agents of the Thalmor, seeking to advance their own cause, will impede your quest. Acquire knowledge and prove yourself Dragonborn, and the revered Greybeards will grant you an audience to learn of their ancient Draconic arts.

Now great adventurer, free yourself from bondage; take up blade or spell, bow or axe; fulfill your destiny or postpone it indefinitely.
